Terminals Holding and Kookiejar sign an MoU

Abu Dhabi-based Terminals Holding a leading Airport operator with Ground Handling Service Provider with over 1.6 billion of assets under its management and Kookiejar of Sweden AB a leading Vertiport Operation and Advanced Air Mobility partner have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in building and operating transformational, sustainable Vertiports in emerging markets, creating societal value.

“We are a Greentech company enabling sustainable air mobility and we have already secured pilots in Europe and UAE with ongoing talks in the US. With this agreement we have the potential to expand our network into Abu Dhabi and other emerging markets that need our solutions, with Terminals Holdings as an operator. This is a huge step in expanding our market reach”, says Founder and Chairman Kim Silander.

“We are eager to study the opportunities that Vertiports Operations and Advanced Air Mobility offers.  With this cooperation, we as an airport operator and ground handler can expand our services within the communities where we already operate and in line with our sustainability and green energy goals”, stated Terminals Holding, the holding company of Afroport Mauritanie.

Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 7th of March during the “The Future of Air Transportation in Mauritania” conference in Nouakchott . The event was attended by Mauritanian government ministers and representatives along with Airport Council International (ACI) Africa, The International Air Transport Association (IATA), and several Air Traffic and Airport stakeholders.

What is a Vertiport?

European Union Safety Agency (EASA) defines Vertiport as ‘an area of land, water, or structure used or intended to be used for the landing and take-off of VTOL aircraft.’

They’re for eVTOLs and drones what heliports are for helicopters, and airports are for airplanes. Vertiports enable both cargo (e.g. first and last mile delivery) and passenger services (e.g., air taxi) to safely and efficiently to touch-down and lift-off.
